When All The Lost in Darkness Call…

Welcome to day 9 of our 2007 Halloween Ghast Fest featuring members of the Australian Horror Writers Association. Last year, Stephen Studach joined us for the first time, reading “Drawing on Dead Air.” This year, he has contributed a suite of stories, “Eyes Closed in a Dark Room.” There is a bit of profanity and violence in the suite.

Stephen Studach is known for the imagery, ideas, and strong emotional nature of his works. Critics have labeled his writings “chilling,” “gruesome,” “surreal,” “disturbing,” and “touching.”

Stephen has worked for 18 years as a security operative including body-guarding, cash escorts, doorman work, mobile patrolling and alarm response, foot patrols, static guarding, and property protection. He has guarded everything from car yards to government premiers and has looked after the security requirements at libraries, councils, hospitals; accident/emergency and psychiatric wards, shopping centres, clubs, and malls. He has stood guard on heavy plant machinery, helicopters and heliports, a methadone clinic, even a morgue.

Stephen is renowned as a fine reviewer. A section of his review of Clive Barker’s Books of Blood was used to promote the hardcover release of Barker’s The Damnation Game.

He has won accolades for stories in the Chizine story contest and The Writers Of The Future competition. He has work upcoming in the e-anthology Black Box and The Harrow.

Writing is Stephen’s life and his life is writing.
